The sketches are painted on novel pages, using the so called eliminative method: just a few words or letters are left visible. The elimination gives way to a new image.

Boekentoren, 2010
gouache on printed paper, 19,9 x 12,9 cm
An image of the Boekentoren (‘Book Tower’), the main library of Ghent University designed by Henry van de Velde. This sketch was part of the preparations for what became the film [meine heimat]. The text reads something like: “that last word / preserved / and classified / on one of the outstretched shelves / in late summer”.
